Abu Dhabi, UAE – 27 November 2024: In a groundbreaking leap for the UAE’s agriculture and food accessibility landscape, Silal, UAE’s leading agritech and food innovation company, has signed a Musataha agreement with Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi – KEZAD Group, the largest operator of integrated and purpose-built economic zones, to establish cutting-edge AgTech initiatives in Al Ain Industrial City. Unveiled during the Abu Dhabi International Food Exhibition (ADIFE), running from November 26 to 28, 2024, the projects signify a bold step toward reshaping the UAE’s agricultural future, setting new benchmarks for innovation, sustainability, and resilience.
Sky Berries:
In collaboration with Iyris, Silal is launching Sky Berries, a revolutionary indoor farming project that spans an impressive 50,000 square meters or equivalent to 10 football fields. Dedicated to cultivating premium berries, Sky Berries addresses the challenges of growing high-quality produce in the UAE’s desert climate. This project embodies Silal’s commitment to advancing local food production, reducing import dependency, and pushing the boundaries of agricultural technology.
Project Ripe:
Expanding its footprint further, Project Ripe will harness advanced controlled-environment agriculture technologies across 100,000 square meters, focusing on high-value crops. This initiative employs cutting-edge methods to drastically reduce water consumption, minimize carbon emissions, and maximize yields for harvest throughout the year, aligning with the UAE’s broader vision for food sustainability and environmental stewardship while reducing import dependencies.
